INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Red delicious apples

  • 4 McIntosh apple

  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup + 1sp granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ tsp allspice

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

  • Pillsbury pie crust

  • 1 stick of butter

  • Vanilla ice cream

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Peel and thinly slice apples, add slices to bowl with 2 tbsp of lemon juice.

  • In the same bowl add 1/4 cup of flour, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup dark brown sugar, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of allspice, 1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg.

  • Mix until the ingredients are combined. While the juices release from the apples, preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  • Grease your pie dish with 1 tbsp of room temperature butter, lay one crust round in the dish. with a fork poke crust 

  • Take the remaining crust round and cut it into 1/2 inch slices.

  • Add the apple filling into the pie crust and add 5 pats of butter to the top.

  • Lattice your pie crust on top making sure the longest strip goes in the center of the pie and gently pinching the two doughs together.

  • Melt the remaining butter and brush it on the crust then sprinkle 1 tsp of granulated sugar on top. 

  • Place pie in the oven. After 20 min or when the dough starts to get golden brown add tinfoil to the top loosely.

  • Place pie back in the oven for the remaining 40 mins lowering the temperature to 350 degrees.

  • When the filling is bubbling it is time to take it out and let it cool for 30 min.

  • Finally, you can cut the pie and serve it with vanilla ice cream.
